What is AI for architects?

AI for architects is software that handles the repetitive writing and checking in an architecture practice, such as fee proposals, drawing checks, compliance checklists, RFIs and reports. Artificial intelligence in architecture works best as a first pass. The architect reviews every output and stays responsible for the work.

How AI in architecture
helps your practice

Most of the hours go into construction documentation and the admin around it. These are the six places AI saves the most time.

Fee proposals and tender responses

AI drafts proposals and tender writing from your past bids, fee templates and the client brief. Your director starts from a strong first draft.

Drawing checks before issue

AI reads the full set of construction drawings and lists missing references, naming clashes and gaps, each with a sheet number for your team to confirm.

NCC (BCA) compliance checklists

AI works through your NCC compliance checklist against the drawings and specification and flags what is missing. Your certifier still signs off.

Planning permit applications

AI pulls site details, planning controls and project data into a first-draft town planning report for each planning permit application.

Construction RFIs and meeting notes

AI drafts RFI responses from your drawings and specs, and turns meeting notes into actions with owners and dates.

Early cost estimates

AI reads early drawings and past project costs to give a first building cost estimate that your QS or estimator can refine.

How we build it

Built into your practice. Checked by your architects.

Document automation, live in six weeks

We start with one workflow. In weeks 1 to 2 we agree what success looks like. In weeks 3 to 6 we build it into your tools and test it on live projects. At 30 days we review the results together. See how we work

Your architects stay in charge

AI suggests and a registered architect decides. In the RIBA AI Report 2026, 77% of architects said AI can never replace human creativity. It can take the repetitive admin.

Private AI, inside your systems

Your drawings and client data stay in your environment and are never used to train models for other clients. It works alongside Revit, ArchiCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft 365.

“humaniseAI helped us build AI-powered knowledge access that lets users find answers across our entire system in seconds.”

FAQ

AI for architects: common questions

There is no single best tool. Architecture AI tools such as ArchitectGPT and Gendo help with concepts and renders. The bigger time savings usually sit in proposals, drawing checks and reports, which need AI built around your own templates.

Partly. ChatGPT can describe a drawing and pick out text, but it misreads scales, dimensions and symbols, and it can’t cross-check one sheet against another. Drawing review needs a system that reads the full set and flags issues for an architect.

AI can work through an NCC (BCA) compliance checklist against your drawings and specification and flag what is missing, with references. It can’t certify compliance. A building surveyor or certifier still signs off, so treat AI as the first pass.

AI can suggest early concept layouts and massing options. It can’t produce a buildable, compliant documentation set on its own. It helps most with repetitive checks and writing, while a registered architect stays responsible for the design.

Usually not. An AI architect is an IT role that designs AI systems for large companies. Most practices need a partner who maps their workflows, builds the AI around them and supports it after launch. That is what humaniseAI Studio does.

It depends on the workflow. We start with one, build it into your existing tools and prove it in about six weeks. Through the AI Council Incubator, two businesses a quarter get their first Studio system built at no cost.
