About the client
Our client is a 20+ year firm in Australian sports, broadcasting, and media, delivering live performance statistics across netball, AFL, golf, horse racing, and betting. They’ve covered more than 24,000 matches across Australia and Asia. Alongside several live statistical software projects already in flight, the client needed extra hands with the right specific skillset, not a full outsourced build, to keep an AFL interchange tracking app moving on a fixed deadline.
The challenge
The brief carried real operational stakes, not just a feature list.
AFL allows just 4 interchange players and up to 75 swaps a game
Interchange officers needed a live, rule-accurate way to track every swap
The app also had to capture bench swaps during injuries and concussions
Ground-side connectivity was unreliable and outside anyone’s control
The client needed extra front-end, QA, and mobile capacity to hit deadlines
What we did

Built mock APIs to test performance where live test data wasn’t available
Ran full QA passes inside real, roughly 2-hour match windows, live
Built it as a Progressive Web App so it kept working offline, mid-game
